MADRID: The embassy of Pakistan in Spain organized a grand cultural event to celebrate Pakistan Day.
The objective of the event was to highlight Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Among the guests were Senator Javier Maroto, Vice President of the Spanish Senate; Senator Vicente Sedarte; and Luis Fonseca Sánchez, Director General for Asia and the Pacific at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Pakistan and Spain, followed by an address by Pakistan’s Ambassador Dr. Zahoor Ahmed, who highlighted the historical importance of the Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940.
He stated that today’s Pakistan is a vibrant, progressive, and culturally rich country making significant contributions to global peace, technology, and youth leadership.
The ambassador praised the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Spain, noting that Spain is Pakistan’s second-largest trading partner in Europe. He also emphasized the vast potential for cooperation in renewable energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and the IT sector.
Senator Javier Maroto also appreciated the longstanding relationship with Pakistan and called for the expansion of cultural and diplomatic ties.
Luis Fonseca Sánchez reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan and termed cultural exchange a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
A highlight of the evening was the performance by renowned Pakistani singers, including Hasan Jahangir, Humaira Arshad, Fazal Jatt, and the world-famous Sufi artist Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Their captivating performances mesmerized the audience. The concert was well-received not only by the Pakistani attendees but also by the Spanish guests, who enjoyed the magic of Pakistani music.
The participants described the event as a memorable experience and remarked that such cultural programs promote friendship, harmony, and mutual respect between nations.
