NEY YORK: Laetitia Courtois, Permanent Observer and Head of Delegation of ICRC in New York and Chris Harland, Deputy Permanent Observer, called on Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram.
Ms. Courtois briefed the PR on the various initiatives that the ICRC is undertaking to strengthen the implementation of IHL, especially in the wake of proliferation of conflicts around the globe.
Ambassador Munir Akram appreciated the role played by ICRC in advocating for adherence to the IHL principles.
He assured the ICRC delegation that as a responsible member of the international community and as an E 10 member of the UN Security Council, Pakistan would continue to lend its support for the strengthening of IHL principles and stands ready to work with ICRC towards that end.
