Illegal immigrants demonstrate in Spain to obtain documents

BARCELONA: Demands for early legalization of illegal immigrants in Spain are gaining momentum, with refugee rights groups demonstrating in Plaza Catalonia yesterday. Dozens of protesting refugees are seeking residency in Spain Were demanding papers.

Dozens of protesters from different countries, including women, held placards and banners in their hands. The protesters demanded that they be given the same human rights as other people living in Spain.

Immigrants to Spain who had emigrated from other countries for unavoidable reasons demanded international human rights, especially the right to food, work and housing, and the provision of legal documents.

It should be noted that thousands of immigrants from different parts of the world have arrived in Spain. According to Spanish law, illegal immigrants can apply for permanent residence after three years in Spain. Yes, those who meet the required standards get legal status in Spain, including work permits. The protesters included Pakistanis and South Asians, immigrants from African, Arab and Latin countries.
