Passenger plane crashes in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan
Details about make of plane and number of passengers yet to be determined, say Afghan officials.
KABUL: A small chartered jet carrying six passengers crashed in the mountains of the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan.
According to media reports, the plane while flying from India to Moscow had lost contact with the air control system on Saturday night and was found crashed into the mountains in Zebak area of Badakhshan.
Afghan media reported that details about the make of the aircraft and the number of passengers on board ate yet to be determined.
The reports said that initial indications are that the aircraft left its assigned route due to unknown reasons and crashed into the mountains.
According to Russia’s aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia, the plane with six people on board was flying to Moscow from India via Uzbekistan when it lost contact with the air control system on Saturday night.
Earlier, the reports said that the crash plane belonged to India.
Not Indian aircraft
The Indian government later said that the plane that crashed in Afghanistan did not belong to the Indian government or any Indian private company.
