Iran Warns US Over Oil Prices Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions

TEHRAN: Iran has issued a sharp warning to the United States amid rising tensions over the potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that American citizens could soon face significantly higher fuel prices.

According to reports, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, reacted strongly to recent remarks by Donald Trump. In a statement shared on social media, Ghalibaf said that Americans may soon “miss today’s petrol prices” and should enjoy current rates while they last.

He further remarked that after any so-called blockade, even fuel prices of $4 to $5 per gallon might appear cheap to consumers in the United States, indicating the potential for a sharp surge in global oil prices.

Ghalibaf also shared an image showing current fuel prices at petrol stations near the White House, reinforcing his message about possible economic consequences. In addition, he posted a mathematical formula symbolically suggesting that any escalation in tensions could multiply the impact on global oil markets.

The remarks come amid increasing geopolitical strain in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes—remaining at the center of strategic concerns. Analysts warn that any disruption in the passage could have far-reaching effects on global energy supplies and fuel prices worldwide.
