DUBLIN: Ireland Women got off to a winning start in the three-match T20 international series against Pakistan Women, clinching a hard-fought 11-run victory in the opening game held last night at Dublin.
Batting first, Ireland posted a competitive total of 143 runs, setting a challenging target on a pitch offering some assistance to the bowlers. Despite a determined chase, Pakistan Women were restricted to 131 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Ireland’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs, tightening the screws as Pakistan fell short of the target, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second T20I will be played tomorrow (August 8) at the same venue, with the match scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM local time.
