ISLAMABAD: The capital administration has sealed the Red Zone in Islamabad for all types of traffic as part of heightened security measures ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations.
According to officials, a comprehensive traffic management plan has been implemented across the capital. Islamabad Expressway will remain closed for traffic from Koral to Zero Point, while the entry of heavy vehicles into the city has been completely restricted. Traffic flow on Srinagar Highway may also be halted at various times.
Police have announced alternate routes for commuters. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 are advised to use Margalla Road and 9th Avenue for travel to and from Rawalpindi. Traffic from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will also be diverted towards 9th Avenue.
In case of closures at Zero Point and Koral Chowk, commuters can use Srinagar Highway via 9th Avenue, Stadium Road, Murree Road, and Rawal Road. Traffic from Park Road may be diverted towards Tramri Chowk if Club Road is closed.
Authorities have urged heavy transport owners to avoid traveling toward Islamabad during these days. Travelers from Bhara Kahu are advised to use Kurang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road, while those coming from Rawalpindi Saddar can use Colonel Sher Khan Road or 9th Avenue.
