Israeli authorities have prevented Palestinians from performing Eid prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to media reports, this is the first time since 1967 that the mosque was completely closed at the end of Ramadan, denying worshippers access.
Israeli police reportedly set up barriers at the mosque’s entrances, forcing hundreds of Palestinians to offer prayers outside the Old City.
Israeli officials stated that the move was due to tensions with Iran and security concerns. However, Palestinians fear that this sets a dangerous precedent that could affect access to the mosque in the future.
Meanwhile, Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated today in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
