Israel rejects UNGA resolution on Gaza ceasefire

Foreign minister says his country will entirely eliminate Hamas like the world did to Nazis and Daesh.

TEL AVIV: Israel in Saturday said it rejects the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly calling for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza.

The foreign minister of Israel said his country rejects the resolution moved by Jordan calling for the ceasefire.

He said Israel was determined to eliminate Hamas like the world eliminated the Nazis and Daesh.

It may be mentioned here that on Friday the UNGA adopted the resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. Following Hamas attacks on over 20 towns of Israel on October 7, Israel gas been carrying out rampant air strikes on Gaza.

So far, over 7,000 people have been killed in the Gaza bombing besides displacement of thousands of other people.

International calls for a halt to the killings of civilians abd blockade of Gaza have fell on deaf ears while major powers such as the US and Canada have held Hamas responsible for the mayhem. US President Joe Biden even ruled out ceasefire untill release if hostages in Hamas captivity.

The U.N. General Assembly Friday adopted a resolution initiated by Jordan and co-sponsored by Pakistan, calling for “an immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce” in Gaza leading to a cessation of hostilities in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
