PESHAWAR: Six people, including Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq group, were killed in a suicide bombing at the Jamia Masjid in Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak.
IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hamad confirmed the suicide bombing at the Jamia Haqqania mosque and said that six people were killed in the blast and several people were seriously injured.
The IG said that the target of the attack was Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, the head of Jamia Haqqania.
Deputy Commissioner Nowshera Irfanullah Mehsud said that the body of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani has been shifted to CMH Nowshera.
Irfanullah Mehsud said that the blast took place at the exit of the mosque through which Maulana Hamidul Haq used to go home after prayers.
Following the blast in Akora Khattak, an emergency has been imposed at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar and the spokesperson said in this regard. The administration and medical staff have been directed to remain alert, ready to face any kind of situation.
