KP Launches Lab to Detect Donkey Meat
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken a crucial step to ensure food quality and authenticity by setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory under the KP Food Safety & Halal Food Authority.
This new facility can now detect the authenticity and quality of meat in just seconds, specifically identifying if the meat is from a donkey, buffalo, or cow.
The move comes in response to growing concerns over the sale of donkey meat being passed off as halal meat.
The laboratory employs scientific testing methods to ensure that food products, especially meat, comply with halal standards and meet safety regulations.
This modern laboratory allows the KP Food Safety & Halal Food Authority to analyze a variety of food items, including milk, water, spices, and beverages.
However, the main focus remains on meat, as the authorities aim to eliminate the practice of fraudulently selling donkey meat.
By testing meat samples, the lab can verify the source of the meat quickly and accurately, ensuring that only approved halal meat is sold to the public.
The introduction of such advanced technology is expected to significantly boost consumer confidence in food products across the region.
With rising concerns about food safety and the authenticity of halal meat, this step is expected to enhance public trust in the food industry.
The KP Food Safety Authority’s commitment to ensuring transparency and protecting consumers from misleading practices is a positive move for the health and well-being of the public.
