Lawyer Imaan Mazari, husband arrested by capital police

Couple charged with trying to break security cordon for England cricket team, say police.

ISLAMABAD: Imaan Mazari, lawyer, human rights activist and daughter of former PTI federal minister Dr Shireen Mazari, has been arrested along with her husband by the Islamabad police.

The police in a social media post said that Imaan and her husband had been booked in a case after they tried to break the security cordon put in place at Zero Point Islamabad for the cricket team of England a few days ago.

The police said that the couple interfered in the duty of the police while the husband of Imaan slapped a policeman. 

They put in jeopardy the security of the visiting cricket team players, said the police.

Imaan Mazari after the incident had stated that no one could stop her on way to her workplace. The case against the couple was registered by the police at the Aabpara police stations.
