AHMADABAD (INDIA): Police in Ahmadabad have received an email in which the senders threatened to blow up Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the cricket stadium in Ahmadabad named after him.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has started in India with the Ahmadabad Stadium being one of the venues of the matches.
Pakistan started off its World Cup match at the Ahmadabad Stadium by beating Netherland a day earlier.
The Pakistan squad is being provided tight security by the Indian government and Pakistan has asked the Indian government to enhance the security further. Meanwhile, the threatening letter has put the Indian security apparatus on its toes.
Pakistan and its traditional arch rival will play their match at the Ahmadabad Stadium on October 14th. However, before the match, the police have received the threatening mail.
According to Indian media reports, the senders of the letter have demanded Rs5 billion and release of a gangster to save the prime minister and the stadium from being targetted.
