ISLAMABAD: Mishaal Malik, wife of jailed Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, has called for the establishment of a peace board for Kashmir, similar to the one for Gaza.

Speaking at a symposium on Kashmir, organized by the Peace and Culture Organization, Mishaal Malik paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.

She said India cannot suppress the Kashmiri demand for the right to self-determination through force. “India is involved in terrorism in Pakistan,” she added, reiterating her condemnation of India’s actions in Kashmir.

In her previous statement, Mishaal Malik had also said that the ideal time to bring the Kashmir issue to the forefront had arrived. She demanded the immediate release of detained Kashmiri leaders.

Referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she stated that Modi’s record is far from positive, and for votes, he has not hesitated to escalate matters towards a nuclear conflict. She added that Modi had faced a severe defeat, and now he was unable to confront the consequences.

Mishaal Malik remarked that the U.S. offering to mediate in the Kashmir issue signals that the dispute is not just an internal Indian matter, but an international one. She suggested that both the U.S. and China could play vital roles in facilitating negotiations for a peaceful resolution. She also called for a review and rejection of the Shimla Agreement, reiterating her demand for the immediate release of Kashmiri leaders.
