ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has announced that this Friday will be observed as a national “Day of Thanksgiving” to celebrate the historic ceasefire between the United States and Iran, in which Pakistan played a key diplomatic role.
The announcement came after an important cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where ministers reviewed Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating the ceasefire and discussed its significance for regional stability.
The cabinet unanimously approved the observance of the day across the country and extended congratulations to the Prime Minister for this diplomatic achievement.
Prime Minister Sharif appealed to the nation to offer special prayers for the final success of negotiations and lasting peace in the region.
He praised Field Marshal General Asim Munir for his tireless efforts, which were acknowledged by cabinet members with applause and standing ovations.
The Prime Minister stated, “Allah has elevated Pakistan’s prestige, and this achievement belongs to the entire nation. Hosting US-Iran negotiations is a historic honor for our country.”
Sharif added that Pakistan will continue striving to convert the temporary ceasefire into a lasting peace, aiming to protect the region and the world from the flames of conflict.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to playing a central role in global peace efforts, and the recent developments demonstrate the country’s credibility as a responsible nuclear power capable of managing international crises.
