WASHINGTON: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the two-state solution to Middle East conflict and proposed the creation of a Palestinian state inside Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with Israeli media during a visit to the United States, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said the establishment of a Palestinian state was a threat to Israel’s security. He said that the Saudis can create a Palestinian state in their country as they have a lot of land.
The Israeli prime minister was asked whether the establishment of a Palestinian state was necessary for Israel’s relations with Saudi Arabia. In reply, Netanyahu said the Palestinian state was a threat to Israel.
“The Palestinians had a state called Gaza, which was under the control of Hamas, and look what happened on October 7 and what we got, so we don’t accept a Palestinian state.”
Regarding the possibility of normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia, he said, “I am sure that peace between Saudi Arabia and Israel is possible and I think it is going to happen soon.”

Meanwhile, Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s statement to establish a Palestinian state on Saudi soil. It said the Israeli statement was a violation of Saudi sovereignty, adding Saudi Arabia’s security is Egypt’s red line.
