New Toshakhana case against Imran withdrawn from AC

Defense lawyer contends that after amendments to NAB law the case has become infractuous.

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau has withdrawn the new Toshakhana case registered against former Prime Minister Imran Khan from the accountability court.

The accountability court took up hearing of a bail application in the case by Imran Khan today.  His counsel Salman Safdar contended before the court that after amendments to the National Accountability ordinance the case against his client had become irrelevant.

The prosecutor from the National Accountability Bureau also stated that after the changes to the NAB ordinance the accountability watchdog had lost jurisdiction over the case. NAB then withdrew the new Toshakhana case against Imran from the accountability court.

After hearing the arguments of the two sides, accountability judge Muhammad Ali Waraich took a break for three hours and later transferred the case to the special judge central.

The accountability court also ordered that the special court would take up the application for the grant of bail to Imran Khan in the case on September 10.
