New York City, nearby areas rattled by earthquake 

Mayor's spokesman says we do not have any reports of major impacts at this time, we’re still assessing the impact.

NEW YORK: This morning at 10:20, an earthquake rattled New York City and the surrounding area, creating panic among the people. 

The United States Geological Survey said the quake intensity was 4.8 and it was centered near White House station, New Jersey, 40 miles west of New York City. 

New York City’s emergency notification system said in a social media post more than 30 minutes after the quake that it had no reports of damage or injuries in the city.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was briefed on the quake, his spokesperson Fabien Levy said, adding, “While we do not have any reports of major impacts at this time, we’re still assessing the impact.”
