ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has approved the nomination of the constitutional bench in Sindh High Court.
According to the decision of the commission made at a meeting held in Islamabad today, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice K.K. Agha will head the constitutional bench in the High Court.
The nine judges were nominated for the constitutional bench by a majority of 11 members of the judicial commission while three judges dissented.
These three judges included Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court. However, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi did not used his vote.
According to media reports, PTI lawmakers Shibli Faraz and Umer Ayub did not attend the meeting of the Judicial Commission even though they had been in contact with the staff of the commission. Their party is holding a protest march to Islamabad.
It may be mentioned here that judicial benches are being formed in the high courts under the 26th amendment.
