No evidence of college girl’s rape, says probe report
Special committee presents report to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
LAHORE: A special committee formed by the government of Punjab in its report has stated that there was no evidence of rape of a female student of a private college in Lahore.
The committee was formed and directed to present its report to the chief minister in 48 hours. The committee today presented a report to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The report stated that there was no evidence of the alleged sexual assault on a female student of Punjab Group of Colleges in LahoreĀ
The report said that the committee questioned around 30 female and male students who stated that they had not seen anyone assaulting the student and had just learnt it from others.
The report added that the girl purportedly falling victim of sexual assault had remained admitted to a hospital after sustaining fractures from a fall in her house on October 2. She and her family members rejected the allegations that she was the victim.
The report said that the college administration had failed to check the situation arising out of the allegation without any evidence and the principal had no control on the students at all.
The committee recommended trial of all those who spread the allegation of rape and incited students to violence in Lahore and then in Rawalpindi.
