Our 11 lawmakers are out of contact, says PTI leader

Aamir Dogar says that these 11 parliamentarians, including nine MNAs and two senators, may vote for the amendment bill against party decision.

ISLAMABAD: While parliament is set to pass the 26th constitutional amendment bill on Sunday night, a leader of the PTI claimed that 11 lawmakers belonging to his party were out of contact.

Aamir Dogar said that nine members of the National Assembly and two senators of the PTI could not be approached adding to the party’s fears that they had been forced to vote for the government in bill in parliament against party decision.

Earlier in the day, PTI Chairman met JUI chief Molana Fazlur Rehman and announced that the PTI had decided to boycott the parliament voting on the constitutional amendment bill.

PTI secretary general Omar Ayub, on the other hand, stated that that at least seven PTI parliamentarians had not been in contact despite repeated efforts by the party leadership.

Meanwhile, JUI leader Senator Kamran Murtaza said that the government had in hand three draft bill and if we o not vote for it the government could pass a bill of its choice. This indicated that some PTI members had assured the government of their support.
