FIR says PTI protesters snatched weapons from police, opened fire and damaged public and private property near Liaquat Bagh.

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Police in Rawalpindi have registered cases against over 150 leaders and workers of PTI under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered by the police at the Waris Khan police station, the PTI leaders and supporters snatched official weapons from police and opened fire, creating panic among the general public on September 28 when the party tried to hold a protest demonstration at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi.

The FIR also stated that the protesters pelted stones on police vehicles in which three constables were injured and official vehicles damaged.

The police also said that the PTI workers and leaders who gathered at Liaquat Bagh were carrying arms and batons and stopped the police from performing their duty.

The protesters during the rally at Rawalpindi also chanted slogans against state institutions and the government, said the FIR.

It may be mentioned here that the police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies blocked roads and beat back the workers and supporters of the PTI and did not allow them to hold a protest rally at Liaquat Bagh on Saturday.
