GAZA CITY: More than 1,500 patients in the Gaza Strip have died after being unable to access treatment abroad due to severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies during the ongoing war, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The ministry’s Director General, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, said hospitals across Gaza were operating under extremely difficult conditions, with critical shortages of medicines, medical equipment and essential supplies making it increasingly difficult to save lives.
He said thousands of patients awaiting medical evacuation for treatment outside Gaza had been affected by delays, with more than 1,500 of them dying before they could receive the care they needed.
According to Al-Bursh, kidney patients have been among the worst affected, with more than half of those suffering from renal disease reportedly dying due to shortages of dialysis equipment, medicines and other essential medical supplies.
The Health Ministry warned that the healthcare crisis in Gaza continues to deteriorate as hospitals remain unable to replenish basic medical stocks. It cautioned that more lives could be lost without urgent international assistance.
The ministry appealed to the international community, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to expedite the delivery of medical supplies and facilitate the evacuation of critically ill patients for treatment abroad.
