KARACHI: Air travel across Pakistan faced severe disruption on Wednesday as 60 flights were cancelled and 14 others experienced significant delays, causing inconvenience to passengers at major airports including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and others.
According to aviation sources, flights operating on domestic and international routes to destinations such as Jeddah, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Madinah, Najaf, and Abu Dhabi were affected. A total of 24 flights on these routes were reportedly cancelled due to operational issues.
Several Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights also faced delays. Flight PK-862 from Jeddah to Karachi was delayed by approximately four and a half hours.
Similarly, PK-302 and PK-303 from Karachi to Lahore were delayed by around four hours, while PK-300 from Karachi to Islamabad experienced a delay of nearly two hours.
Passengers at different airports reported prolonged waiting times and inconvenience as airline staff worked to manage the disrupted schedules. Authorities have not yet issued detailed reasons behind the widespread cancellations and delays.
Aviation officials say efforts are underway to normalize flight operations and minimize further disruption. Passengers have been advised to check with airlines before heading to airports for updated schedules.
