WASHINGTON: The embassy of Pakistan in Washington organized a ceremony to commemorate the first anniversary of the historic “Maarka-e-Haq,” celebrating the spirit of Bunyan-um-Marsoos with strong participation from the Pakistani diaspora.
The event resonated with chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” and national songs, reigniting the spirit of unity and resilience. Participants reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, integrity, and national dignity, pledging to make any sacrifice necessary for the defense of the country.
Tributes were paid to the armed forces of Pakistan for standing as an “iron wall” against adversaries and protecting national integrity. The professional excellence, patriotism, and dedication of the army, air force, and navy were widely praised.
The civil and military leadership also received appreciation for their decisive and effective response during challenging times, particularly in the face of unprovoked aggression.
Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out during the ceremony, while video messages from the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister and the Defence Minister reiterated the nation’s resolve to defend the country at all costs.
Defence Attaché Brigadier Irfan Ali conveyed a message from Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, highlighting the unity and strength demonstrated during the “Maarka-e-Haq.”
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, emphasized the significance and impact of the historic moment, noting that Pakistan’s armed forces, leadership, and people collectively reinforced the country’s geographical importance, sovereignty, and national honor.
The ambassador underlined Pakistan’s strategic position in a sensitive global region and credited the foresight of Quaid-e-Azam for envisioning the country’s central role in global affairs. The ambassador reiterated that Pakistan was created to safeguard the dignity of Muslims in the subcontinent and vowed that no compromise would be made on national honor.
Highlighting regional developments, he said Pakistan’s efforts for peace, including its role in the Iran-related conflict, reflect its long-standing diplomatic tradition. He also appreciated international support, including efforts contributing to de-escalation between nuclear-armed states.
Ambassador Sheikh added that national unity remains essential for Pakistan’s security and progress, adding that the true realization of the Bunyan-um-Marsoos philosophy lies in achieving economic strength.
The ceremony concluded with a poetic tribute, as the ambassador recited a verse by Majid Amjad, encapsulating the deep emotional bond between citizens and their homeland.
