ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed three crucial agreements, aimed at improving the country’s infrastructure and transportation networks.
The agreements include financing for the ML-1 Karachi-Rohri Section project as well as for the Quetta Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and an additional financing arrangement for the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs issued an official statement confirming the signing of these agreements. The documents were signed by the Secretary of Economic Affairs and the Secretary of Railways, with the Country Director of ADB, Emma Fenn, representing the bank during the ceremony.
The agreements are seen as critical to supporting Pakistan’s efforts to enhance its transport infrastructure and address long-standing challenges in the water sector, particularly in Balochistan.
The ADB has expressed its gratitude for Pakistan’s commitment to these high-priority projects, with the Secretary of Economic Affairs and the ADB Country Director both praising Pakistan’s resolve to move forward with these initiatives.
In the statement, the ADB reiterated its continued support for Pakistan and its determination to cooperate closely with the country on a range of development projects.
