ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its demand for the release of all Kashmiri political prisoners and human rights activists, emphasizing the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said India is attempting to suppress voices advocating for human rights in Kashmir, and the global community has witnessed the atrocities committed against Kashmiri leaders. He stated that Pakistan continues to reject unfounded allegations by India, citing the Kulbhushan Yadav case as clear evidence of state-sponsored terrorism, and stressed that the Kashmiri struggle for freedom cannot be labeled as terrorism.

On bilateral relations, Andrabi highlighted the celebrations marking 75 years of friendship between Pakistan and China. He said both countries have supported each other through challenging times, with strong partnerships in trade, industry, education, and people-to-people exchanges. He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from May 23 to 26 to further strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership between the two nations.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will preside over the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Conference, attend a reception in Beijing, and hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Andrabi quoted the Prime Minister as saying that China’s development and transformation serve as an inspiration for developing countries.

Regarding US-Iran negotiations, the spokesperson said that Interior Minister Moeen Naqvi conducted two visits to Iran, holding key meetings with Iranian leadership to discuss bilateral relations and security matters in detail.

On recent security incidents, Andrabi expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over the drone attacks on May 17 in the airspace of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, noting that targeting nuclear facilities constitutes a serious violation of international law. Pakistan strongly condemned the attacks and expressed hope that such incidents will not recur.
