ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada agreed to strengthen bilateral relations during delegation-level talks between their foreign ministers in Islamabad.
Welcoming Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the two countries have maintained regular diplomatic engagement and have significant potential to expand cooperation in various fields.
Dar said Pakistan remains committed to active diplomacy and noted that the Pakistani community in Canada is a valuable asset in strengthening ties between the two countries. He expressed confidence that Anand’s visit would provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations.
Anand thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to enhancing relations with Pakistan. She said the two countries should work more closely together and highlighted opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, industry, and other sectors.
She also noted that more than 300,000 people of Pakistani origin live in Canada, describing the diaspora as an important bridge between the two nations.
Earlier, Anand arrived in Islamabad on an official visit at the invitation of Ishaq Dar. During her visit, she is scheduled to meet Pakistan’s senior leadership and discuss all aspects of bilateral relations.
