HANGZHOU (CHINA): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said relations between Pakistan and China are moving towards stronger economic, technological, and people-focused collaboration as both countries seek to deepen bilateral cooperation.
During a meeting with Wang Hao in Hangzhou, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of practical cooperation in emerging sectors including digital economy, e-commerce, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture, telecommunications, advanced manufacturing, and skill development.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the rapid development of Zhejiang Province and appreciated the governance vision of Xi Jinping during his tenure in the province, especially the concept of balancing environmental protection with sustainable economic growth.
The Prime Minister said provincial-level partnerships were becoming an important component of bilateral ties and could contribute significantly to the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through industrial cooperation, technology transfer, and export-oriented development.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of two cooperation agreements. One agreement established a sister-province relationship between Punjab Province and Zhejiang Province to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Another agreement was signed between Hangzhou Normal University and the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing for the establishment of the China-Pakistan Joint Technology Research Centre. The initiative aims to promote academic collaboration, applied research, technology exchange, and institutional partnerships between the two countries.
