Islamabad: Pakistan has successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite, marking a significant step forward in its space and technology capabilities.

According to a spokesperson from SUPARCO (Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), the satellite was launched from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center aboard a Chinese rocket.

The new satellite is designed for earth observation, agricultural monitoring, environmental analysis, regional planning (including projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor), and natural resource management.

It will also help monitor transport networks and identify geographic and environmental risks. The SUPARCO spokesperson stated that the satellite will revolutionize several sectors by providing high-resolution data and real-time imagery to support decision-making in infrastructure development, environmental protection, and disaster response.

This is Pakistan’s second remote sensing satellite. The first was launched in 2018, also from China. With the latest addition, Pakistan now has a total of five satellites currently operating in orbit.

The successful launch represents another milestone in Pakistan-China cooperation in space technology and further enhances Pakistan’s capabilities in remote sensing and geospatial intelligence.
