UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has warned that Gaza continues to face a severe and worsening humanitarian crisis, urging immediate international action to alleviate the suffering of civilians.

Addressing an emergency session of the UN Security Council, the envoy said that repeated violations of the ceasefire had further exacerbated the situation on the ground, leaving the civilian population in dire conditions.

He highlighted that millions of people in Gaza are facing acute food insecurity, with more than one million children deprived of adequate nutrition, healthcare, and access to education.

Asim Iftikhar emphasized that restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid constitute a violation of international law and called for the immediate opening of all border crossings, including Rafah, to ensure uninterrupted assistance to those in need.

He also expressed concern over developments in the West Bank, particularly the continued expansion of illegal settlements, warning that such actions undermine efforts toward lasting peace in the region.

Pakistan reiterated its call for strict adherence to international humanitarian law and urged the global community to take urgent steps to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian relief operations in Gaza.
