ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said at the Pakistan–Kyrgyzstan Business Forum in Islamabad, unveiling a two-year target of $200 million in bilateral trade.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s geographical position offers Kyrgyzstan, being a landlocked country, strategic and quick access to global markets through Pakistani ports.
He urged Kyrgyz businesses to identify new avenues of cooperation in sectors including education, textiles, agriculture, health, and other key industries.
Highlighting educational ties, the Prime Minister noted that nearly 8,500 Pakistani students are currently enrolled in Kyrgyz medical universities.
He added that both countries have agreed to establish a joint mechanism to certify medical graduates so they can practice professionally in both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
To enhance cultural connectivity, Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan will organize a series of cultural events in Bishkek, Islamabad, and other provincial centers across Pakistan.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the CASA-1000 energy project, praising Kyrgyzstan for completing its portion and expressing optimism that Pakistan’s segment will be finished soon.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to convert the historically warm relations between the two nations into stronger, more productive economic bonds.
Addressing the forum, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that both countries possess significant untapped potential for economic and trade cooperation.
He highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s strategic location in the heart of Eurasia, which provides access to extensive regional markets.
By leveraging transit routes and modern logistical advancements, he said, both countries can reach millions of consumers worldwide.
