Pakistan, UK Reaffirm Commitment to Boost Bilateral Ties

LONDON: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reiterated their resolve to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as senior leaders from both nations met in London to discuss the evolving bilateral relationship.

Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar held a high-level meeting with UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, during which both sides emphasized the importance of sustained engagement and collaboration. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations, underpinned by strong people-to-people ties and growing partnerships across various sectors.

Mr. Dar acknowledged the valuable contributions of the British Pakistani diaspora in strengthening the social, cultural, and economic fabric of the United Kingdom. He also stressed Pakistan’s desire to cultivate a forward-looking and inclusive partnership with the UK. In a gesture to enhance diplomatic exchanges, Mr. Dar extended a formal invitation to Deputy Prime Minister Rayner to visit Islamabad at a mutually convenient time.

Both leaders also discussed regional developments and the importance of maintaining peace and stability through dialogue and cooperation. They agreed on the need for collective efforts to tackle global challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and transnational threats, while reaffirming their commitment to shared democratic values.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in trade, education, health, and green technology. Both sides agreed to maintain regular high-level contact to follow up on discussions and ensure tangible progress in strengthening the longstanding partnership.
