ISLAMABAD: Pakistan values its deep and historic ties with the United Kingdom, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said during a meeting with British Member of Parliament Lord Shaukat Mohammed in Islamabad.
The meeting focused on Pakistan–UK relations, issues of mutual interest, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Naqvi emphasized that the relationship between the two countries is built on decades of shared history and strong people-to-people connections.
He praised the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, describing it as a “vital bridge” that not only connects the two nations but also contributes significantly to their multidimensional development.
The minister underscored Pakistan’s commitment to upholding international responsibilities, stating that if any Pakistani national is found involved in criminal activities abroad, their actions are condemnable, and it is Pakistan’s duty to take them back.
However, he clarified that this obligation does not extend to individuals who have renounced their Pakistani citizenship.
Lord Shaukat Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to playing an active role in further strengthening bilateral ties. He commended the Pakistani government’s efforts to enhance engagement with overseas communities and to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
