LONDON: A 75-year-old Pakistan man has been awarded life term by the Leeds Crown Court for killing a female British police officer.
Peeran Datta Khan was initially accused of planning and executing a robbery during which the police officer was murdered about 20 years ago. He had fled to Pakistan but was later extradited to the UK to stand trial for the crime.
Khan had shit dead the police officer from a close range when she along with another officer reached at a shop in Bradford after being alerted about the robbery in November 2005. He then fled back to Pakistan.
The accused was extradited to the UK by Pakistan last year. He was the last person to stand trial in the case as six others involved in the case had already been sentenced.
