ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Pakistan remains committed to peace in the region and has played a key role in de-escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, which led to a ceasefire between the two sides.
In a briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan’s efforts were instrumental in achieving the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, while the Prime Minister played a leading role in facilitating negotiations. He added that Ishaq Dar and his team also remained actively engaged in advancing the diplomatic process.
According to the spokesperson, the Prime Minister received multiple phone calls from world leaders during this period, who appreciated Pakistan’s peace efforts and acknowledged its constructive role in reducing tensions between the US and Iran.
He further stated that under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal, Pakistan kept communication channels open with both sides, which strengthened the negotiation process. The spokesperson added that the Chief of Defence Forces recently visited Iran as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement.
Condemning Israeli strikes in Lebanon, the Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan opposes all forms of aggression in the region and remains committed to peace and stability.
The spokesperson added that the Prime Minister is currently on a three-country visit, where important discussions on regional and global issues will be held.
