NEW YORK: During an open debate at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Ambassador Usman Jadoon strongly responded to the remarks made by the Indian delegate, exposing what he termed India’s “malicious and unlawful conduct.”
In his response, Ambassador Jadoon stated that the Indian representative had misused this important forum by making baseless accusations and attempting to mislead the Security Council. He emphasized that the facts about the Kashmir dispute are clear and undeniable: India is illegally occupying the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He highlighted that India has repeatedly violated UNSC resolutions on the Kashmir dispute and has deprived the Kashmiri people of their inalienable right to self-determination. He reminded the Council that it was India itself that brought the Kashmir issue to the UN, but now refuses to comply with its resolutions.
Ambassador Jadoon further accused India of orchestrating and supporting terrorism in Pakistan, citing documented evidence. He also pointed out India’s worsening human rights record, particularly the persecution of minorities, as documented by international human rights organizations.
He condemned India’s unilateral and illegal move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a flagrant violation of international law, aimed at depriving the Pakistani people of their rightful share of water from the Indus River system.
Referring to military aggression, Ambassador Jadoon stated that between May 7 and 10, India launched open hostilities against Pakistan.
In response, Pakistan exercised its right to self-defense in a measured and effective manner, destroying six Indian warplanes and inflicting other significant military losses.
Concluding his statement, the Pakistani envoy called on India to abandon its arrogant and reckless behavior, urging New Delhi to engage in self-reflection and course correction.
