ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released its annual report on the country’s registered population.
According to the report submitted to the Ministry of Interior, Pakistan’s officially registered population now stands at 227 million, representing 97% of the total population. Among registered citizens, 48% are women and 52% are men.
Births of 31.9 million children have been recorded at Union Councils, although these children are not yet fully registered in NADRA’s database. The authority’s biometric database includes facial recognition data for 170 million citizens, 1.68 billion fingerprints, and 7 million iris scans.
The report also shows that overall registrations increased by 11% over the past year, with children’s registration rising by 18% and female registration by 8%. NADRA currently operates 938 registration centers nationwide, having added 75 new centers and 138 additional counters in 2025.
The Pak ID application has handled 15% of registrations, with downloads exceeding 12 million.
