LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a new fitness policy for domestic cricket, set to be implemented ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Under this policy, fitness tests have been made mandatory for all regional players.
According to the PCB, strength and conditioning coaches will assess the fitness of 400 regional players in August. For the first time, fitness tests will also be compulsory for departmental cricket teams, and the PCB will directly conduct these assessments.
The new policy also applies to pathway and age-group cricket, aiming to ensure fitness standards are maintained across all levels of the game.
PCB coach Yasir Malik emphasized the importance of this move, stating: “All domestic cricketers must pass the fitness test in their first or second attempt. Domestic cricket is the nursery of talent, and there will be no compromise on standards.
This initiative reflects PCB’s commitment to raising the overall quality and professionalism in Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure.
