PIA Expects Higher Operating Costs Due to Rising Fuel Prices

PIA introduces connected flights between Pakistan, China

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) expects its operating expenses to increase as a result of rising global fuel prices, Chairman Arif Habib said.

Speaking at an event in Karachi, Habib said improving PIA’s services remains a top priority, adding that inflation is affecting economies around the world. He expressed hope that ongoing conflicts would come to an end, leading to improved global conditions.

Referring to his recent visit to the United States, Habib said he observed growing public dissatisfaction over economic conditions there as well.

He described PIA’s history as a proud one and said the airline’s workforce is capable of delivering strong performance when provided with the right opportunities.

Habib also announced that PIA plans to expand its fleet with new aircraft. He said the additions will be made in phases, but stressed that strengthening the airline’s operational systems will remain the first priority before fleet expansion proceeds.
