PM Imran Khan approved the formulation of Pakistan’s first drone policy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the formulation of Pakistan’s first drone policy and directed to set up a committee to set up a regulatory authority through legislation in this regard.

PM Imran Khan was briefed by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on formulating the country’s first drone policy, in which the peaceful and research use in various fields of drone technology was informed.

The Prime Minister said that drone technology is very useful for agriculture, urban planning, security and law and order. He directed to set up a committee for legislation in this regard which would submit a draft law on drone regulatory authority to the prime minister within a month.

Meanwhile, in a message released on social networking site Twitter, Federal Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that the drone policy would bring new dimensions to the industry of drones in Pakistan, especially agricultural drones, and private import of modern drones will be possible.
