Polio Drive Reaches Over 43 Million Children Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The nationwide polio eradication campaign in Pakistan is progressing with full momentum as it enters its final day.

During the initial six days of the campaign, a total of 43,700,000 children have been administered polio drops, reflecting a robust nationwide effort to protect the country’s youngest citizens.

According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), more than 23 million children in Punjab, over 10.4 million in Sindh, around 6.16 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and approximately 2.58 million in Balochistan have received the life-saving vaccine. In Islamabad, over 466,000 children were vaccinated, while roughly 294,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan and over 733,000 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir were also covered.

The NEOC emphasized that safeguarding the nation’s future from polio is a shared national responsibility, underscoring the crucial role of parents and guardians in ensuring the disease is completely eradicated from Pakistan.

Parents are strongly urged to welcome polio teams and to ensure that all children under five years of age receive the polio drops. For assistance, polio teams can be contacted via 1166 or through WhatsApp at 0346-7776546.

In southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign is scheduled to continue from October 20, ensuring that no child is left unvaccinated.
