Potential Black Rain from Iran Could Affect Pakistan: Experts

KARACHI: A powerful weather system from Iran is moving into Pakistan, raising fears of a repeat of “black rain” – rainfall contaminated with oil and harmful particles.

Last week, following US and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian oil facilities, Iran experienced black rain, sparking concerns for neighboring regions.

While the Pakistani Meteorological Department says the likelihood of black rain in Pakistan is low, experts warn that airborne pollutants from Iran could reach southern and western areas due to strong winds and ongoing regional conflicts.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely. Rainwater samples will be collected and tested to determine chemical contamination levels.

Experts advise citizens to take precautions, including minimizing outdoor exposure and monitoring air quality, as the storm may carry both heavy rainfall and hazardous particles.

“This system is not just about rain; it could bring air pollution along with it,” said a climate expert. “Residents should stay alert and follow safety guidelines.”
