ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to combating human trafficking through international cooperation, public awareness, and coordinated efforts.
In his message on International Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Zardari emphasized that the day serves as a reminder to protect vulnerable segments of society and raise awareness about violations of human rights. He noted that organized criminal networks involved in human trafficking cause the loss of hundreds of lives every year.
The President added that Pakistan is actively enforcing strict laws and implementing effective measures to curb this crime.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his special message, said that criminal elements around the world exploit citizens seeking better employment opportunities. He expressed concern over the tragic incidents where several Pakistanis lost their lives while attempting to migrate illegally via dangerous routes.
He that the federal government has established a special task force to counter human trafficking and is also focused on spreading awareness among the public about the risks and legal implications of this crime.
“Choosing a perilous path for a better future not only endangers lives but also violates national and international laws,” he warned. The Prime Minister stressed that only through joint global efforts can human trafficking be effectively eradicated.
