ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will participate in the 2nd Global Social Development Conference, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6.
The conference is organized under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly. During the event, President Zardari will highlight Pakistan’s commitment to promoting social development, creating job opportunities, and fostering inclusive economic growth.
The President is expected to underscore the significant role of the Benazir Income Support Program in reducing poverty, enhancing social protection, and empowering vulnerable communities. He will also discuss Pakistan’s readiness to launch the Doha-Aligned Social Protection and Jobs Compact (2026-28).
This initiative aims to expand social safety nets for informal workers, people with disabilities, and children, while also promoting environmentally sustainable employment.
In his address, President Zardari will align Pakistan’s development efforts with the goals outlined in the Doha Political Declaration, reinforcing the country’s dedication to fulfilling global development commitments. He will emphasize the importance of collaborating with international development partners and financial institutions to secure resources for sustainable progress.
Additionally, the President will advocate for innovative financial mechanisms, such as the SDG Stimulus, debt-for-social and environmental-change initiatives, and China’s Global Development Initiative, as crucial sources of funding for addressing global challenges.
Throughout the summit, President Zardari will hold strategic meetings with global and regional leaders, including Qatar’s leadership and heads of key international organizations. These discussions will focus on translating the summit’s outcomes into concrete actions and furthering Pakistan’s goals of achieving sustainable and inclusive development.
