5,200 More Afghan Migrants Return Through Torkham Border

The latest departures bring total number of Afghan migrants who have returned their country to over 828,000.

PESHAWAR: A total of 5,220 Afghan migrants returned to Afghanistan through after the Torkham border was opened to facilitate them during the last a couple of days.

According to the latest report, 401 individuals returned legally, while 2,314 were undocumented migrants who left Pakistan. This brings the total number of Afghan migrants who have returned to over 828,000.

From Islamabad, 19 Afghan citizens were sent back, while 450 returned from Punjab. In total, 25,392 Afghan nationals have been sent back from other provinces. Additionally, 19 Afghans were deported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s transit points, including Peshawar, Landi Kotal, and Kohat Jail. Overall, 7,261 individuals have returned from these areas.

Moreover, 1,326 Afghan citizens temporarily stayed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before being deported. The report further indicates that more than 54,000 legal migrants and over 628,000 illegal migrants have now returned to Afghanistan.

This large-scale return of Afghan migrants continues as part of ongoing repatriation efforts.
