Pro-Palestinian protesters shut New York’s central metro station

Protesters demand immediate ceasefire, and respect for Palestinians to live with peace.

NEW YORK: Hundreds of people gathered at the central metro  station in New York and shut it down for hours, demanding immediate end to the Israeli air strikes on Gaza.

The protesters gathered at the most busy transport station chanting slogans against the killing of civilization population by the Israeli air strikes. 

The protest was arranged by Jewish Group for Peace, a rights group. 

The protesters were wearing black t-shirts inscribed with the slogans calling for immediate ceasefire, no more arms and no more war, not un our name, etc.

The protesters also demanded that the people of Palestine should be given their due right of living in peace in a free homeland.

They called upon the international community and the UN to play their role and stop Israel from further bloodbath in the Gaza strip.

The protesters also urged for ensuring access of humanitarian aid agencies to the blocked enclave of Gaza to provide the besieged people with emergency relief items.

Due to closure of the metro station, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority arranged alternative routes.

On the other hand, police also arrested a number of protesters for disrupting transportation system.
