RAWALPINDI: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, has ruled out forming a government in Gilgit-Baltistan with parties that, he claims, “stole the mandate” at the federal level.

Speaking to the media, he said PTI’s stance against both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is clear, questioning why his party should partner with them in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He stated that PTI contested 22 seats in the region and secured victory on 15, but alleged that the results were manipulated. “If we are reduced to two seats while others are given 13, we will not accept it. The right to govern belongs to the party that received the public mandate,” he said.

Barrister Gohar added that PTI does not believe in power-sharing arrangements. He claimed the party had strong performance across constituencies and maintained a clear lead overall.

On protests, he said PTI supports peaceful demonstrations and emphasized that people have the right to protest for their rights, while rejecting violence and unlawful actions.

Commenting on economic issues, he noted that citizens are struggling to pay utility bills and fuel costs. Regarding the upcoming budget session expected on June 12, he said PTI’s parliamentary committee will decide its strategy.

He also raised concerns over restricted access to former prime minister Imran Khan, stating that meetings have not been allowed for 34 weeks. He called for restoration of visitation rights on humanitarian grounds, saying such restrictions only deepen political divisions.

Barrister Gohar concluded that ensuring constitutional rights and respecting public mandate remain central to PTI’s political position.
