Treatment of Afghan refugees by Pakistan cruel: Taliban

Regime's acting prime minister says Kabul will never allow any terrorist to use its soil against Pakistan or any other country.

PESHAWAR: The acting prime minister of Taliban regime in Kabul Mulla Muhammad Hassan has said the treatment being meted out to Afghan refugees in Pakistan was cruel and should be stopped.

He stated this after a meeting with the visiting JUI chief Molana Fazlur Rehman in Kabul. He said Mullah Akhund said ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ had no intention of causing harm to Pakistan, nor would it allow anyone to use the Afghan soil against any country.

His statement comes after pressure from Islamabad to stop terrorists operating from Afghanistan into border areas of Pakistan.

Molana Rehman is currently on a visit to Kabul to hold on talks with the Taliban regime and to press them for action against TTP terrorists hiding in Afghanistan.

In line with the caretaker government’s decision, the repatriation of illegal aliens from Pakistan going on albeit in a slow pace.

Officials at the Torkham border said that 1,020 Afghan nationals returned to their country a day earlier. So far, 462,799 illegal Afghans have been repatriated to Afghanistan, they added.

Last year, the government announced its plan yo repatriate all aliens living in the country without proper documents. They were given a deadline of October 31 to voluntarily leave the country.

At the end of the deadline, the government launched a drive to send the illegal migrants back home. Most of the illegal migrants were Afghan nationals.

It may be noted that there are millions of Afghan nationals who have been living in Pakistan for decades.

Most of the illegal migrants grom Afghanistan were those who fled their country after the takeover of Kabul by Taliban militants following the departure of US troops from the war-torn country.

The government of Pakistan says that most of the Afghans were involved in criminal activities including murder, robberies and even terrorism.

Action is being taken only against those who are staying in the country without proper documents, it says.
