QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan’s provincial capital thwarted a major terror attack on Tuesday, killing six militants affiliated with the group known as “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
According to ISPR, the assailants attempted to execute a suicide assault using an explosives-laden vehicle.
The attackers, disguised in Frontier Corps (FC) uniforms, opened fire but were swiftly neutralized by the forces. During the confrontation, two FC personnel sustained injuries.
Police confirmed that a powerful explosion shook the Zarghoon Road area, followed by bursts of gunfire. The impact of the blast shattered windows and doors of nearby buildings, triggering fear and panic among local residents.
Rescue teams, law enforcement personnel, and FC units rushed to the scene immediately, sealing off the area and launching a comprehensive search operation to ensure no further threat remained.
In response to the attack, Balochistan Health Minister Bakh Muhammad Kakar declared a citywide emergency across all hospitals. He directed consultants, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics to report for duty without delay to handle any potential influx of casualties.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti lauded the swift and decisive action of the security forces, stating that the terrorists had been “sent to hell.”
He reaffirmed that cowardly acts of terrorism could never undermine the morale of the nation or the determination of its security institutions.
Bugti emphasized that the sacrifices of citizens and security personnel would not go in vain, and reiterated the government’s firm resolve to transform Balochistan into a peaceful and secure province.
